  My Favorite Solos by Joaquin

The music of Joaquin Murphey affected me deeply when I began to mature as a musician, no wonder since his music did the same for countless steel guitarists since the 1940's.

Though Joaquin recorded many extraordinary solos with Spade Cooley, Tex Williams, The Plainsmen, and many others, the recording by Smokey Rogers Rich Man, Poor Man features my personal favorite performance by Joaquin. Clink on the link and enjoy.

Here's a great example of western music in Southern California on the radio during the 1940's, with a burning vocal version of Columbus Stockade Blues on the Hollywood Barn Dance, with monster solos by Joaquin and George Bamby on the accordion.

The comedy before the song is by Cliffie Stone and Johnny Bond. Precious stuff!!
